We all understand that this is a talked about topic BUT I am the one to inform you about why you should quit smoking. People think that smoking marijuana isn't harmful, but that is one substance within itself and others. There is more substances out in the world then just marijuana that people find themselves addicted too. According to medicalnewstoday.com, smoking is responsible for several diseases, such as chronic respiratory disease, and heart disease, as well as premature death (Nordqvist, 2015). Smoking can and will bring on more than enough health conditions and could possible lead to addiction. Addiction? Yes, addiction. I know of people who smoke marijuana on a regular who think that they are not addicted, but if you can't go a day without thinking of having to smoke later and you constantly find yourself spending money on the substance, I think you might have an slight addiction. I'm not talking about the addiction where it becomes compulsive and interferes with your ordinary life and responsibilities, but yet the urge to always have this substance on a regular. This activity has became a normal routine of your life.
I can give a million and one reasons why you should NOT smoke, but I don't have all the time for that. But, answer this. Why would you want to increase the chances of having lung failure, cancer, and all other conditions that affect the lungs? Smoking is not the only thing that can cause lung cancer but it is the biggest preventable deaths in the world and it WILL increase the chances. Lung cancer is one of the most common caused of cancer deaths. According to the American Lung Association, 90% of male lung cancer patients develop their disease because of smoking (Nordqvist, 2015). I am not here to attack all the males because female smokers are 13 times more likely to develop lung cancer than those who have never smoked (Nordqvist, 2015). So what am I getting at? Since lung cancer is the largest preventable cause of death, why would you want to leave this earth and you loved ones anytime earlier? Just something you can think about.
Besides just lung cancer, smoking can cause numerous health conditions like: bladder cancer, kidney cancer, mouth cancer, esophagus cancer, pancreas cancer, throat cancer, stomach cancer, leukemia, nose and sinuses cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, and also breast cancer. From that list alone, we ALL know that it is very harmful to our body from the look at it but we understand that these conditions does not affect everyone.
I can't sit here and say that I've never smoked a day in my life. This whole blog would be contradicting. But there are ways in which you can substitute smoking. Instead of spending money on smoking, set it aside in a jar and at the end of the month you'll have you a little emergency stash. You can also find other ways to replace the relax feeling or whatever feeling you feel when you're under the influence of drugs. Take a walk, meditate, work out. ANYTHING can work, trust me. This process will not happen overnight because as we all should know, it takes 21 days to change a behavior. That's a month. IT CAN BE DONE!
